Krasnodar, 13 January. The governmental support of the region’s agricultural complex will reportedly exceed 11 billion roubles. Speaking at a briefing held on January 9, Kuban Governor Veniamin Kondratiev said that the agricultural complex is a strategic sector of the region’s economy. “All existing support measures will be retained in full. It is necessary to increase the agricultural output up to 590 billion roubles, compared with the 576 billion last year. A peculiar attention must be given to imports substitution projects; we should proceed with cattle breeding programs and development of seed farming.
The regional leader noted that the work on the strategic directions should result in expansion of the arable areas by 4,500 hectares, of the vineyards – up to 30,200 hectares (by 20%) and, consequently, to the increase of production of wines. At the cost of the imports substitution program on seed farming, Kuban farmers plan to get 120,000 seed units of domestically bred sugar beets, which will suffice to sow 92,000 hectares of fields in 2024.
