Krasnodar, 22 September. 6+ The nation’s biggest youth basketball training centre has reportedly been opened in Krasnodar.
The Locomotive Kuban Basketball Centre was built in Kolosisty Neighbourhood.
“Basketball is one of the popular sports in the Krasnodar region, with more than 13,000 athletes involved at sections, and about 300,000 persons taking part every year in the all-Kuban tournament in street basketball. About two dozen Kuban athletes are playing in the national teams,” Governor Veniamin Kondratiev said.
Andrei Vedishchev, President of the Krasnodar Regional Basketball Federation and Locomotive Kuban Centre noted that putting it in operation will open up new prospects and opportunities for the regional and national basketball.
“The Centre is equipped according to the highest contemporary standards. If necessary, it may become a training camp for our first-rank national teams. After its commissioning, our work aimed at the preparation of high-class young basketball players will become even better. Now our gifted young athletes have a new house,” Andrei Vedishchev said.
The new sports complex consists of three roofed sites including the central one with the stands for 500 spectators, an open-air site with professional basketball flooring, a 45-room hotel, gym, canteen and café.
