Krasnodar, 24 June. Our today’s interviewee is Yevgeni Meites, Head of the Sirius Federal Territory Sports Cluster.
Q.: At Sirius, a lot of various medical trials are used for athletes’ preparation. What are those researches and what effect can they give?
A.: Our interdisciplinary sports studies deal with assignments at the confluence of sports physiology, genetics, psychology, medicine and pedagogics. The study of the phenomenon of sports giftedness and talent is one of the most pressing theoretical and practical directions of contemporary sports science. With the help of hi-tech equipment, specialists may at a young age choose the best sport for the child. For the purpose of high achievements, such equipment is needed to guarantee safety of exercises: to prevent traumatism or help return to sports after illnesses and sports-related injuries.
Q.: What can help athletes remain in good shape while they are deprived of international competitions?
A.: The Sirius Federal Territory actively cooperates with many national sports federations. Both we and they are interested in sports roundthe-year bases where athletes could take part in training camps and contests, including national tournaments that will let them keep fit. All sports facilities at Sirius were built for the 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Since then, all sports infrastructure has been kept in splendid condition. Now we are able to hold sports events there due to the formation of a unique sports cluster which will become a meeting point for professional athletes and beginners, local residents, holidaymakers and tourists.
