Krasnodar, 9 June. Over 1,000 persons took part in the carnival procession held in the centre of Gelendzhik on June 4.
The carnival was dedicated to the beginning of the new summer season. It was the first activity of the kind since 2019 – during the last two years the procession had not been held due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The variegated procession started from the Palace of Culture and marched along Lunacharsky and Lenin streets, and finished at Central Square. In total, over a thousand people marched across the resort city, including 310 actors from Krasnodar, Azov, Rostov-onDon, Sochi, Novorossiysk, Gulkevichi, Goriachy Kluch, Abinsk, and Leningradsky rayon. Over 2,000 students of preschool establishments, secondary and supplementary schools, and young athletes took part in the children’s festival.
Besides, Gelendzhik is currently hosting the Sea of Balloons, an international aerial design festival, the Mayor’s Office announced. This year, its theme is Soviet cartoons. In honour of the festival, a public pond was inaugurated at Khersonskaya street by the new Ayia Napa Public Garden.
