Krasnodar, 12 Мay. The streets named after heroes of the Great Patriotic War will reportedly be repaired in Sochi.
At present, the repair works at Chekmenev Street in Khosta are nearing completion. This street is named after Grigori Chekmenev who performed a feat in 1944 by the village of Budzevichi, Belarus. Remaining by a canon with another soldier, he destroyed several German tanks. On July 8, 1944 he took possession of the Nazi’s strong point by the village of Teshevlia but he perished in the battle and was awarded posthumously. A street in the village of Vasilievka, Lazarevsky District, was named in honour of the Yeremian Brothers. In the near future, it will also undergo reconstruction works. The five Yeremian brothers were just some of the natives of the village who had not returned home from the battlefields. They fought at Leningrad, the Kursk Salient, and the Little Land by Novorossiysk.
The repair works in Sochi include replacement of the worn road surface, laying down of the levelling course, replacement of the kerbstones, and laying down of the upper level of asphalt-concrete macadam.
