Krasnodar, 4 Мay. The tourist project “Mountains Are Nearby” is reportedly starting in the Kuban region.
As part of it, tourist routes at Gelendzhik, Novorossiysk, Goriachy Kluch, Seversky and Abinsk Rayons were renewed, with similar activities to be carried out in other municipalities. These routes will not require any sophisticated hiking outfit. The works under the project will also include upgrading of the camping sites and tourist camps.
“The [hiking] routes have been designed in such a way that they can be part of weekend tours. First of all, we worked on the routes logistically connected with Krasnodar City which generates mighty car traffic towards the seaside on weekends. Such an alternative will help differentiate the tourist flow and unload the highways, as well as it will allow holidaymakers to diversify their recreation,” Vice Governor Aleksandr Ruppel said. “The once famous Soviet network of tourist routes was lost, so our current task is to reopen West Caucasus for mass tourism.”
