Krasnodar, 16 March. Moody’s has reportedly lowered Kuban and Krasnodar’s ratings down to a near-default Ca.
This index means a very high risk of default, the agency’s website informs. In addition to the Kuban region and the city of Krasnodar, the agency lowered the ratings of ten other Russian regions and cities, and two Russian state companies to the same level. The list of endangered regions includes, among others, Moscow and St. Petersburg. The ratings were lowered as a result of their reconsideration initiated on 1 March.
“The reduction of the rating was connected with the worsened possibility of fulfilling their debt obligations due to the increased uncertainty and exposure of these emitters to a steep increase of systemic risks at the cost of economic, financial and institutional relations with the federal government,” the agency stated.
