Krasnodar, 1 February. Twenty million roubles will be assigned for soil fertility monitoring in 2022, Vice Governor Andrei Korobka announced at the conference of the Federation Council’s Committee on Agricultural and Food Policy and Environmental Management.
Committee Chairman Aleksei Mayorov stressed that there are a number of problems that impede correct application of mineral and organic fertilizers, namely: lack of reliable information on agricultural lands, their boundaries and qualitative characteristics, absence of a unified federal information system, inefficiency of land management as a mix of activities aimed at studying the soil quality and soil use and protection planning.
“Since 2021, all agricultural manufacturers have to introduce organic fertilizers or sow at least 20% of the tilled area with sideral cultures once every five years. In the [Kuban] region, state monitoring of land fertility is carried out on an annual basis, which helps trace their health. This work is subsidized from the regional budget,” Andrei Korobka said. He proposed to establish administrative liability for breakers of the law on land fertility.
