Krasnodar, 30 September – Yug Times. A further 246 CCTV cameras will be installed in Novorossiysk. According to the city administration's press service, the new equipment will be deployed as part of the modernisation of the municipal video surveillance system operated by the Safe City – Unified Duty and Dispatch Service.
Expanding the network is expected to reduce the number of areas that currently remain outside surveillance coverage and provide more comprehensive monitoring of streets, residential courtyards and public spaces. At present, 50 of the city’s existing cameras are equipped with biometric facial-recognition technology, while another 94 can identify vehicle registration plates. Once the additional 246 cameras have been installed, the total number of surveillance devices will rise to 2,606.
The City Hall says the expansion will improve the efficiency of responses to offences and speed up their detection. The modern isation programme involves not only installing new equipment but also expanding the capabilities of the existing network.
