Sochi Mayor’s Office Promises to Talk to Locals

Krasnodar, 21 December. The development of the new city master plan for Sochi has reportedly reached the stage of a research progress report.

 In the near future, experts will perform an urban planning analysis of the city’s territory. 

According to Sochi Mayor’s Office, special taskforces were formed in the city districts that will be involved in awareness-raising activities among local residents and collection of their questions. Besides, they drew the plan of personal meetings of specialists of the Department for Architecture and City Planning and activists of the public sector with local dwellers. 

“Such meeting have already been held with dwellers of the Central District, and of a number of rural localities of Khosta District – in Baranovka, Plastunka, and Verkhny Yurt. As soon as obtained data are collected and systematized, they will be submitted to the master plan developers to consider them in their further work,” the Mayor’s Office announced. 

Deputy groups of the Sochi City Council and members of the Mayor’s Urban Planning Council will also submit their proposals on the issue. The developers will have to present the concept of the city master plan no later than on May 1, 2022. 

“Every resident should have an opportunity to take a direct part in the formation of such an important strategic document,” Sochi Mayor Aleksei Kopaigorodsky said.
