Krasnodar, 29 October. Since the beginning of 2021, the production of milk in the Kuban region has exceeded 1.1 million tons, Vice Governor Andrei Korobka announced. By the end of this year, the region’s dairy industry will produce about 1.5 million tons of milk. Thereby it will repeat last year’s record output during the past ten years.
At the same time, Mr. Korobka noted that this amount would not suffice to reach self-sustainability.
Andrei Korobka informed that over the past five years, the production of milk has increased by 15%, and of meat by more than 10%. The cattle population also remains at a stably high level – Krasnodar krai makes the nation’s top-10 regions by the number of livestock.
Mr. Korobka stressed that lately the dairy industry has been subsidized actively – for instance, this year it has been allocated over 1.6 billion roubles to be spent, among other activities, for highyield cattle selective breeding programs.
