Krasnodar, 22 October. According to the results of a study performed by Rosturizm (Federal Tourism Agency), the Krasnodar region and Crimea shared the first place in the list of most sought-after destinations for active travels.

“Of late the trend is that holidaymakers are coming not only to the Black and Azov seaside,” Acting Minister of Resorts, Tourism and Olympic Heritage Maria Zolotukhina commented. “Our guests prefer active recreation in nature, which has become possible due to such alternative offers as alpine skiing, agricultural and oenogastronomic tourism. All these branches are developing actively in our region.” Yuri Barzykin, Vice President of the Russian Union of Tourist Industry, noted that despite the growing number of holidaymakers, the popularity of domestic environmental and active tourisms remains much lower than the existing potential. At the same time, Russia ranks in the world’s top five countries with the richest natural resources. It is the programme of subsidized tours to interesting sights that may change the situation, Mr. Barzykin said.
