Krasnodar, 7 October. Since the beginning of this year, over 14,5 million people have visited Krasnodar krai, Vice Governor Aleksandr Ruppel said on Monday in Sochi at a session of the Coordinating Office on Organizing Summer Season.
The issue that grabbed the most attention of the attendees was arranging the work of the beaches. Mr. Ruppel reminded that the beaches in Sochi, Anapa and Tuapse had been several times exposed to the elements last summer. In order to reduce the probability of destructions during incessant rains, new stormwater disposal systems are now being developed for the flood-affected areas.
Maria Zolotukhina, Acting Minister of Resorts, Tourism and Olympic Heritage of Krasnodar krai, reported that the work of 228 beaches (nearly 50%) had complied with the beach recreation standards developed by the Ministry. The document provided for a uniform style and architectural design of the beaches, classification of beach zones according to the holidaymakers’ demands, and high level of service. In total, 125 ‘upgraded’ beaches worked in Sochi, 80 in Anapa, 10 in Gelendzhik and 10 in Temriuk. The Ministry plans to bring the number of compliant beaches to 100% in the near future.
