Krasnodar, 28 September. Over the past three years, 46 Kuban farmers have reportedly received regional grants to establish orchards to the total sum of 138 million roubles. The money was used to lay about 200 hectares of socalled ‘intensive orchards.

’Regional Minister of Agriculture and Processing Industry Fedor Dereka delivered a report on support of Kuban gardeners, speaking at a conference dedicated to the development of horticulture held by the Federation Council’s Committee on Agricultural and Food Policy in Slaviansk-on-Kuban last week.

“Farmers are getting purpose-oriented subsidies from the federal and regional budgets to establish new orchards,” Mr. Dereka said. “In 2021, their total sum has exceeded 750 million roubles. Besides, there are horticulture support programmes targeted at small farmers – like the grant programme ‘Little Orchard.’ New farms which have been working for less than a year can get a grant to establish an intensive orchard. The maximum sum of such grant is three million roubles.”

In 2021, the regional has allocated 15 million roubles for the grants meant to support intensive orchards.
