Krasnodar, 24 September. In the Krasnodar Territory, over 65% of the voters came to vote (data from the regional electoral commission issued at the time of publication). According to this indicator the region ranked second in the whole country. After three consecutive election days, 88 electoral scrutinies have been completed in the region. The residents of the region marked upon their ballots the future deputies of the State Duma and members of the Council of the “Sirius” Federal Territory at the first such convocation, plus they chose deputies for representative bodies in 23 municipalities and the heads of 63 urban and rural settlements.
All in all, almost three thousand polling stations have been working in the region’s municipalities. In addition, videocameras were filming continuously for 72 hours. They covered 96% of the polling stations in Russia. Such a scale of video surveillance during elections is not used anywhere else in the world, as the territorial administration said. Election observers were able to scrutinize the live broadcast of the voting process.
- All the protocols were processed. The voting over three days made it possible to distribute the flow of people and avoid congestion at the polling stations. The final national result is still being calculated, but we have already exceeded the national turnout figure by 15%. This is becoming a good trend for our region,” said Alexei Chernenko, chairman of the regional electoral commission.
It is reported that human rights activists have not revealed any facts of violation of voters’ rights in the Krasnodar Territory. This was stated by Olga Malakhova, deputy chairman of the Kuban Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights. According to her, the questions to the “hotline” of the Human Rights Council were mostly related to the information about the addresses of polling stations, and the information about alleged violations of human rights from social networks have been checked but not confirmed.
At all levels observers noted that the elections were held strictly within the boundaries of the law. The foreign delegates visited polling stations in different districts. Upon their return to Krasnodar, they met with Alexei Chernenko, chairman of the regional electoral commission, and Sergei Myshak, regional human rights ombudsman, and reported on their observations.
Long-distance sailors, residents of collective farm associations, people in temporary detention and even those being treated for coronavirus in the “red zone” were able to take part to the elections. Polling stations worked there as well, in compliance with all the sanitary norms.
Alexei Chernenko, chairman of the electoral commission, noted that according to preliminary results, United Russia party got about 61% of the votes in Kuban, with the KPRF (Communist Party of the Russian Federation) in second place with 15.69%, the Liberal-Democratic Party and “Fair Russia - For the Truth” are respectively in third and fourth place, with a small gap. These are the results after processing 96.6% of the ballots.
