Krasnodar, 1 September. A new scheme for the development and location of protected areas starting after 2023 will be developed in the region. This will allow to enclose valuable lands and protect them from exploitation.
- The work on the creation of natural areas of preferential protection is a continuative process. It is already important for us to begin preparing a new scheme of development and location of specially protected natural areas for after the year 2023. It is a strategic document. According to scientists, environmentalists and social activists at least another 100 unique places and natural monuments are in need of protection, - said Veniamin Kondratiev.
Vice-Governor Sergey Boldin said that the development of a new scheme for protected areas of the region will begin this year.
An expert council, including representatives of the Ministry of Natural Resources, scientists, and ecologists, will run checks on the territories. It is due to be created in the near future.
According to the press service of the regional administration, in 2020, 5 new protected areas have been created in the region, and since the beginning of 2021 - another 21. By 2023 another 13 protected areas will be created in the Kuban.
