Before Battle for the Harvest

Krasnodar, 1 July. A regional preharvesting conference was reportedly held in Adyghea last week. It was devoted to the preparedness of farmers to the upcoming harvest season. 

The total area under crops in Adyghea is 115,200 hectares. The main crop is winter wheat; the area under it is about 93,400 hectares. The farmers are now completing sowing of spring crops; the process was complicated due to prolonged rains. The current area under spring crops is 97,200 hectares, including 33,800 hectares sown with cereals. 

Anzaur Kuanov, regional Minister of Agriculture, reported about the current situation in the agricultural complex. He stated that the region pays much attention to the quality of the sown crops, and to the use of highly productive seeds of modern selection. The seeds are presented by 80 varieties and hybrids from the State Register of Selection Inventions. For the purpose of variety renovation and changing, 301 tons of peculiar seeds of winter wheat were sown on the area of 2,633 hectares (155% to the area of 2020) at 35 farms.
