Sochi Hosts Media Gathering

Krasnodar, 13 Мау. Last week, Sochi hosted the Forum of Kuban Journalists. 

The event was timed to the Day of Kuban Journalism celebrated on May 5. The theme of the event, “Regional media in digital format: how to survive and be efficient,” summoned more than 70 media working in the Kuban region. 

Welcoming the delegates, Kuban Governor Veniamin Kondratiev said: “You all differ in evaluating the political and economic situations, but the highest value of a journalist is to have the problems you are dwelling on resolved creatively.” 

RT Editor-in-Chief Margarita Simonyan added that appearance in social networks allows media to expand their opportunities. 

“I was born in Krasnodar krai. Twenty years ago, journalists who had got to the limit in their profession and wanted to advance professionally, had to go to Moscow. Now they do not have to do it to become really cool in their trade. What is more, what I am observing now is a real boom in the development of regional media,” she noted. 

After the official event, the distinguished journalists were awarded with diplomas and acknowledgements of the regional administration.
