Krasnodar, 11 Мау. Sochi is reviewing the results of the first long holidays of this season.
From May 1 till 10, the city received 232,000 holidaymakers. The average hotel occupancy reached 82.4%.
The reason for the feverish demand was the suspension of flights with Turkey, a traditional destination of Russian tourists during the May holiday time. Besides, this year’s May holidays appeared long as never before, when President Vladimir Putin announced days-off between May 1 and 9.
In Sochi, 975 hotels and guesthouses were offering 137,000 accommodations. According to the city administration’s press service, the highest occupancy rate was shown by spas with medical services and three- to five-star large hotels with heated swimming pools and well-developed infrastructure.
The peak occupancy was recorded on May 6, with 122,000 holidaymakers visiting the city, unorganized tourists included.
