Krasnodar, 8 April. 12+ Today our interviewee is Olga Polovyanova, Nestlé Kuban Director General.
Q.: Which management tools do you use for team management?
A.: For me, it is trust and mutual respect at all levels and in all activity spheres that are the basis for an efficient organization. It is leadership style – when professionals actively cooperate with one another and achieve common goals – that leads a company to success. The manager’s role is to be able to identify the priorities, provide the required resources, create positive atmosphere, maintain emotional control, promptly notice any malfunctions, guide the team, and take the right decision in a difficult situation. This approach to management and operational environment is for me one of the factors owing to which I have been gladly coming to work and successfully realizing my tasks for nearly seventeen years. In the ‘manager as leader’ concept, what is at issue is the importance of such working tools and principles as ‘mindful leadership’ – this is when the personality, ‘feedback and tutorship’ underlie all decisions, changes and processes. These are the key tools of staff development and creation of open culture – ‘strategic planning’ and ‘SMART goal setting.’
Q.: What is the most important thing for big company management?
A.: Based on my experience, the size of a company is not the decisive successful factor for the implementation of plans and achievement of goals. What I consider the foundation for the construction of an efficient goal performance process is availability of a common goal and its achievement strategy which must be understandable for every employee. If team players understand their roles at all levels, see their goals and can evaluate their contribution, then success is assured. Open culture is another compulsory factor – this is when every employee can address any problems, submit proposals and develop their skills.
Q.: What do you consider your Company’s main achievements over fifteen years of work in the Kuban region?
A.: The Timashevsk Coffee Factory is one of the leading production facilities in Krasnodar krai, and one of Nestlé’s biggest NESCAFÉ producers worlwide. Our production and packing lines are furnished with most advanced technologies. We make a wide assortment of coffee products. Since its launch in 2005, Nestlé Kuban has produced more than 500,000 tons of instant coffee. The total amount of Nestlé’s investments in the Factory has exceeded 13 billion roubles. The fifteen-year-long history of the Factory is distinguished by continuous advancement and marketing of new products.
Q.: Your Company plans to expand production. What will it be – a new direction or a wider coffee assortment?
A.: In mid-March, Nestlé announced a 2.8 billion rouble-worth investment in the expansion of Nestlé Kuban Factory. The new investment will be used to expand the instant coffee making facilities, in particular, to increase the output of premium-class NESCAFÉ Gold brand; they will allow us to meet the ever growing demand of consumers of first-class coffee.
