The regional authorities believe that it will enable to more efficiently and faster settle a number of issues in the social and utilities spheres.
The initiation of the program was discussed during the meeting chaired by Irek Faizullin, federal Minister of Construction and Housing and Utilities Sector.
“Sochi is a peculiar city. It may be necessary to elaborate the mechanism of a separate law for Sochi which, as well as the ‘Olympic law’, will let us form a special-purpose program,” he said.
In order to define what support measures may become necessary, the local authorities have already submitted the list of measures to be taken in the city by 2030 for the Ministry’s assessment. What is at issue is the construction of about 100 educational and cultural, gas supply, and road infrastructure facilities, landscaping of the courtyards, and relocating the dwellers of old and dilapidated houses.
Mr. Faizullin ordered that a special workgroup be formed to assist the regional and local authorities in settling these issues.
The issue of upgrading the city’s water supply and sewage systems was given special attention at the meeting, because some water pipelines are 90% worn.
