Krasnodar, 29 October. Multimedia guides will reportedly appear in Krasnodar museums.
The first ones to take advantage of the novelty will be the visitors of the Kovalenko Krasnodar Museum of Art. The guide will be presented as a free mobile application, ARTEFACT, whose fully featured work will be launched in late October.
“This is an interactive guide of exhibitions that allows Russian museums to add content independently, transferred into an augmented reality format. The application provides access to collections practically from all Russian museums,” the regional Ministry of Culture commented.
In order to implement such technology, specialized software and technical utilities were bought for the museum: a 3D scanner for hetero-format objects, and a planetary scanner to digitalize original pieces of art from the museum holdings that need softglove treatment. In addition to that, a Wi Fi zone was organized in the permanent exhibition hall “Russian art of the 16th – early 20th centuries.” In total, the regional budget has assigned two million roubles for the activity.
