Krasnodar, 24 September. A special yacht regatta started at the Russian Black Sea coast on September 18. The regatta called “Sails of Bosporus” was organized in the framework of environmental activities of Russian Ministry of Natural Resources. The yachting and rowing contests were hosted by the Environmental Educational Centre “Zhemchuzhny” of the Utrish Natural Reserve. Their aim was to promote environmental tourism and education.
Immediately after the inauguration of the competition, its participants went from Utrish to Gelendzhik. The athletes were using cruisers and VX700 yachts.
The teams did daily and nightly runs at sea, and visited some marvelous cultural monuments. On the weekend, the athletes did a series of runs around Gelendzhik. The spectators were following them from the shore. Apart from that, all teams took part in cultural and educational activities of the project “Nature of ancient Bosporus”, an environmental route across specially protected natural areas.
