Krasnodar, 9 September. Nearly two million tons of sugar beets were reportedly delivered to the processing facilities of Krasnodar krai this year, of which 220,000 tons of sugar were manufactured. The total demand for the region is 240,000 tons.
Although the season has just begun, over 15,000 tons of sugar beets were processed on September 1 and 2, the director of a sugar mill reported during his meeting with Governor Veniamin Kondratiev. The planned volume for the mill is 1 million tons, to be processed into 135,000 tons of sugar, including 80,000 tons of the extra class product.
Despite the fact that this year’s yield is lower than usual because of the weather factors, the use of upto-date technologies and ongoing technological upgrading have made it possible to achieve such high production volumes. About 15% of the sugar mill’s annual income are reportedly spent to cover the technological advancement programs. Currently, Krasnodar krai provides for 25% of the national sugar production.
