Krasnodar, 13 May. The second stage of furnishing hospitals receiving coronavirus patients with the required medical equipment has reportedly begun in the Kuban region.
At a session of the regional crisis centre chaired by Governor Veniamin Kondratiev, additional 500 beds for COVID-19 patients will be deployed in the hospitals, and 390 artificial lung ventilation apparatuses will be installed there.
“Altogether, all 20 COVID hospitals will be able to accommodate 3,342 patients. If it would become necessary, we would expand the facilities to 6,000 beds. Nearly a half of them will be equipped with oxygen supply systems, which corresponds to current standards,” Vice Governor Anna Minkova reported.
Commenting on the supply of hospital facilities, Mr. Kondratiev stressed that the region must be as much as possible prepared to the possible deterioration of the epidemiological situation.
In her turn, Ms. Minkova reported that the stock of artificial lung ventilation apparatuses is growing in the hospitals. Last year, the region obtained ten apparatuses, another batch of 270 devices will be delivered in May and June. The documents needed to receive 120 more devices are currently being prepared.
