Krasnodar, 7 February – Yug Times. In August 2020, the construction of a new air terminal will reportedly begin in Krasnodar. In the near future, Basel Aero, the owner of the airport, plans to hold a bidding and chose the design office.
By now, the development master plan has been corrected, and land parcels of the total area of 332 hectares have been withdrawn for the new project.
Basel Aero is proceeding to design the first development stage of the airport, consisting of a terminal of the total area of 70,000 sq m, and service infrastructure of the total area of over 100,000 sq m. Their construction is to be completed by 2023.
Together with the Russian Railroads and regional authorities, the airport operator has reportedly begun working on the project of suburban train for the airport from Veshniaki neighbourhood. This project is to be synchronised with the program scheduled by Basel Aero.
The new air terminal in Krasnodar may also become a transit hub for foreign passengers.
