Krasnodar, 11 September – Yug Times. According to the experts of the tourism sector, this year, vacation destinations during the “velvet season” will be completely full. Moreover, there’s an equal ratio between those who booked beforehand their vacation, prenoting tours already in winter or spring, and those who packed up at the very last minute. Turkey stays among the most popular destinations, in the Krasnodar Territory, the accent is on all-inclusive tour packages. According to data from the Russian Tour Operator Association (ATOR),this year the bookings figures for the velvet season have surpassed last year’s ones by 10–25 %. One of the reasons is the loss of purchasing power by most people. Not wanting to renounce to their seaside vacation, Russians look for ways to reduce the costs and so they choose periods in which the prices for hotel rooms are 20-30% less than during high season. Indeed this is a conscious choice: 30-40% of all bookings for the “velvet season” are early bookings – in winter, spring, or even a year before, in some cases. In fact, bookings for Autumn 2020 have just started up. The quantity of last-minute tours is around 30%.
Your operators point out that in September, prices remain those found in August - at the peak of the season - and do not fall down. This, depends not only on the demand, but also on the negative performance of the Ruble quotations, which directly influence voyages abroad. It will become cheaper just in October, but vacationers must be prepared to the cool sea and a weather, in practice not suitable for balneation.
