Krasnodar, 23 July – Yug Times. The harvest campaign has reportedly finished in Krasnodar province. The yield of crops was 11.1 million tons, which is the absolute record of the regional agricultural complex. The year 2018 was also a record year, with the yield of 10.4 million tons. It means that this year the figure was exceeded by 700,000 tons. The yield of the main culture, wheat, was 9.7 million tons (475,000 tons more than in 2018).
“This was an unprecedented yield for the Kuban region, and yet more proof that Krasnodar province is the guarantor of food security of the entire country,” Governor Veniamin Kondratiev said. He mentioned that the region is taking a series of measures to be able to get high yields.
“We are running most state-ofthe-art tractors and harvesting machines, getting scientists involved in the work, selecting high-yielding varieties, and monitoring the soil quality . As a result, we got a yield of mostly classes III and IV wheat, which are the most popular ones on the market,” Mr. Kondratiev summarised.
