Krasnodar, 2 July – Yug Times. Last week, the Chairman of the Supreme Court of Russia Viacheslav Lebedev visited Krasnodar, where he presented Aleksei Shipilov, the new Chairman of the Regional Court. Mr. Shipilov’s candidacy was approved by the Supreme Qualification Board of Judges last February, and President Putin appointed him by a decree signed on 19 June. In his speech, Mr. Lebedev noted rich professional experience of the new appointee, and emphasised on high quality of work of Russian judges on the whole. He said that last year they examined 23 million civil cases and 6.5 million administrative cases.
Mr. Lebedev also added that the national judicial system is undergoing a permanent process of changes that includes introduction of new models of legal proceedings, like complete cassation providing for the consideration of complaints in presence of the parties. This novelty is to give a strong impetus for taking decisions that fully ensure law compliance, Viacheslav Lebedev stated. In his speech, Kuban Governor Veniamin Kondratiev expressed his confidence that the new chairman of the regional court will contribute a lot to the practice of taking objective verdicts.
