Krasnodar, 29 May – Yug Times. Krasnodar Mayor Yevgeni Pervyshov has reportedly signed the largest national concession agreement on cultural heritage – on reconstruction of the Aurora, once the main movie theatre of the Kuban capital.
The investor, businessman Sergei Galitsky’s Investstroi Company, will have to bring the architectural monument to its original state – to restore the facade, windows and supporting frames and do the landscaping – plant bushes and trees and repair the footways. The investment totals to 3 billion roubles. According to the concession, the Aurora will remain a film and concert hall.
Within three months after the signing of the concession, a team of experts will examine the project. Another year will be spent to do the project, whereupon only the reconstruction itself will begin. The completion date has been set for 2024.
The cinema was closed for reconstruction on January 29, 2015. The original municipal contract was signed with STK LLC. The works were planned to be completed by the middle of 2016. In April 2017, Mayor Pervyshov announced that the City Hall was terminating the agreement with the contractor via court. The city insisted upon a technical examination of the cinema, because it was just the framework that had been left after the low-quality repair work.
