Krasnodar, 15 May – Yug Times. Russian President Vladimir Putin, Kuban Governor Veniamin Kondratiev and Head of ‘Talent & Success’ Foundation Yelena Shmeleva has reportedly visited a number of educational establishments for gifted children, in particular, the Sirius Centre in Sochi.
Sirius will become the base for an industrial park and state-ofthe-art concert hall. The facility is to be launched in 2021. Besides, a new lyceum for 1,100 students, kindergarten for 360 children, and swimming pool will be built in the city.
The foundation of the Sirius Education Centre was initiated by Russian President on the basis of the city’s Olympic infrastructure. Its mission is to reveal, develop and render professional support to gifted children showing a flair for arts, sports and science, and achieving much success in technical creative work. The Centre is a round-the-year establishment. Monthly, it receives about 800 teenagers aged 10 till 17 from dozens of Russian regions.
Since last September, local schoolchildren are known to undergo deep study of engineering and mathematics at the Sirius Centre. Since 2015, over a thousand young students have taken an educational course there, in addition to over 500 teachers that have received additional training.
