Krasnodar, 26 February – Yug Times. One hundred days are left until the Kuban region is fully switched to digital TV broadcasting.
Last week, Head of the regional Department for Information Policy Vladimir Prigoda informed about the changes in telecasting and support measures foreseen for the customers.
In Russia, the gradual transition from analog to digital television broadcasting began at the beginning of this year.
Digital telecasting is known to provide better quality of reception of image and sound. When the digital broadcasting is introduced, the spectators will be able to receive 20 TV channels. During the 100-day-long transition period, the Kuban dwellers may buy new equipment.
There are two types of adapters: purely digital adapters and set-top boxes that ensure viewing of both analog and digital channels.
Mr. Prigoda noted that the nearest session of the regional Legislative Assembly will consider a bill on support of socially unprotected groups of the population in purchase of digital adapters.
