Krasnodar, 14 February – Yug Times. On February 14-15, Sochi will host the main economic event of the year for the Krasnodar region - the Russian Investment Forum. The event will attract thousands of guests - representatives of business and political circles from throughout the country and beyond. Q.: Is the approach to the presentation of the projects and platforms at the Russian Investment Forum going to change in 2019?
A.: In the past, every municipal leader would run an independent presentation and reported the regional head about the large-scale projects that needed an investor. This time, the focus will be on practical implementation of the Strategy of socio-economic development of the Krasnodar region until 2030, according to which seven economic zones have been singled out in the Krasnodar region. The municipalities being parts of these zones will have their joint presentations and explain the priority directions for their zone, and the major breakthrough innovations that may sometimes encompass several municipalities.
Q.: Can we say that presenting separate projects have given way to more important strategic things?
A.: Yes. The supervisor of every economic zone will be presenting the major projects that are important for the entire zone - that is such projects that have a great potential to attract the investors. According to the Strategy-2030, this year at least 600 billion roubles in investment must be attracted to the region’s economy, which is 12% more than last year. The only way to do it is with the help of breakthrough projects.
Q.: The Krasnodar region is known to increase its activity in the Sochi Forum every year. Besides, the region take part in the International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg. What is the main difference between these two business platforms?
A.: The Russian Investment Forum in Sochi opens a Russian investment year. For us, it is also a home forum, which is why the Kuban region traditionally presents the biggest exhibition stand. Of late, the International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg has also acquired big importance for the Krasnodar region. The Kuban stand has there an unusual format - with a zone of business activities and a zone of the ‘investment restaurant’, where the [Krasnodar] region shows its opportunities to investors through the quality of its products and [traditional] Kuban hospitality.
