Krasnodar, 23 January – Yug Times. The landscapes of such big cities as Krasnodar, Sochi or Novorossiysk cannot be imagined without strings of moving cars and a lot of parked vehicles. But not all parking lots are free of charge. In exchange to paying the parking fee, car owners expect to get at least a minimum sort of service – or if nothing else than a hope that their car will be parked in a safe place. However, the truth is that a paid car park does not mean a safe place.

An accident in a park lot is deemed equal to any other road accident; even if the two cars merely touched each other. But the drivers often prefer to leave the scene tan to attract the attention of the police and the insurance company to what they consider to be an insignificant incident. Nonetheless, nearly 40% of all registered road accidents have occurred when entering or leaving a car park.

Road accidents that happened in a parking lot are not classified separately. The offender may be called to account on a number of clauses of the Russian Administrative Code: for instance, for the violation of the rules of manoeuvring. An accident that occurred in a park lot is referred to insured cases.

“In the case of the loss, damage or break of completeness of a car occurred during its being park in a parking lot, the executor must by the consumer’s request draw a corresponding report that is to be signed by the consumer and the executor’s authorised employee,” lawyer Yuri Pustovit explains. “Besides, it is necessary to report the case to the police immediately. As soon as the total damage has been calculated, the car owner may claim recovery of damages from the director of the car park.”
