Krasnodar, 22 January – Yug Times. Last Friday, on 18 January, Russian Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev made a working visit to the Krasnodar region.

During the visit, he had a meeting with students of Tikhoretsk Industrial College, the ones who will soon make advanced combine harvesters, and with actual CLAAS workers. There he held an extended conference, where he backed Kuban Governor Veniamin Kondratiev’s initiative to increase the financing of the program of state support of manufacturers of agricultural machines. Ultimately, this visit will have a positive effect upon the entire national agricultural sector: providing federal sponsoring, the rejuvenation of the fleet of agricultural vehicles will be more accessible for both agricultural companies and farmers.

The site for the meeting was chosen not by chance: the assembling facility of CLAAS Ltd., an affiliate of the renowned German producer with a century-long history, opened in Krasnodar in 2003. Three years ago, the second stage of the factory was put into operation. It is there that TUCANO combine harvesters are made. By the way, they are marketed as ‘Made in Russia’. Governor Veniamin Kondratiev noted that the Krasnodar region has all preconditions to become a national leader in the production of farming machinery. Presently, about 30 agricultural machine-building companies operate in the region. In 2018, they produced over 3,000 agricultural machines of different kinds.

Kuban-made machinery is in demand in Russia and beyond: in 2018, the export proceeds exceeded a billion roubles. But, of course, support of local farmers and agricultural companies in terms of updating of the fleet of their machines remains a priority task for the government. Last year, agricultural producers got compensations amounting up to 25% of their costs, that ultimately helped make their products more accessible for consumers.
