Krasnodar, 29 August – Yug Times. Kuban Cossack Host Ataman Nikolai Doluda plans to push on an idea of Cossack groups in kindergartens.
The Cossack education in the Krasnodar region has reportedly been developing for more than ten years already, with the help of specialised Cossack secondary schools and Cossack military schools. In Sochi, there is a kindergarten whose pupils study the history of Cossacks, free Kuban warriors.
Last week, Ataman Doluda visited the kindergarten No. 3 in Sochi, where he was greeted by boys and girls clad in Cossack attires. The kids proudly demonstrated Cassack bearing. “We began to use good Cossack traditions in the educational work at our kindergarten in 2010,” Director Marina Furasieva said. “Our faculty initiated opening of a [Cossack] group, and the parents supported the idea. A special curriculum for 6 - 7-year old kids was elaborated.”
Adult Cossacks became the mentors of this group. For many years, officers of the Bytkha Cossack community have been cooperating with the kindergarten. They hold lessons, recount the history and traditions of Kuban Cossacks, and go hiking together with the children.
The parents look happy to have their kids studying at the Cossack class too. “Let us recall Yermak’s deed - he with a handful of Cossacks explored vast Siberian expanses,” Yuri Dziuba from Khosta, the father of Aleksandra, a pupil of the Cossack group, said. “This is why the children should know their ancestors’ history and heroism they revealed at the battlefronts.” The Cossack group in the kindergarten is a unique phenomenon - for the time being yet, Nikolai Doluda believes. He is confident that this experience must be spread over the region. “It’s thankful to such programs that our little compatriots begin to understand what patriotism and fatherland mean,” Mr. Doluda said. “They become not indifferent to such words, and this is very important. Such kids will grow into genuine citizens of our great Russia.”
