Krasnodar, 21 August – Yug Times. The Krasnodar region is reviving the traditions of the Kuban Cossacks, the founders of the Kuban land.
The Kuban Cossack Youth League has been founded in the framework of this work. The League’s mission is to instil respect to the ancestors and the history, the feeling of sympathy for other people and concern for the future of the native land. Aleksandr Agibalov, Chairman of the Kuban Cossack Youth League.
“The Kuban Cossack Youth League is a public movement, targeted at the new Cossack generation aged from 7 until 35. It joins children of [Kuban] Cossacks, students of Cossack classes, military and vocational schools, and [young] Cossacks, members of Cossack communities, themselves - about 90,000 people altogether.
“The main goals of the Cossack Youth League are advancement of the children’s and youth Cossack movement in the Kuban region, cultivation of traditional Cossack moral standards and values in the young generation, and upbringing of patriotism and allegiance to the Fatherland. “Besides, we are involved in popularisation of the history and culture of the Kuban Cossacks, and we get children and young people to take part in the fulfilment of the state policy as regards Cossacks, and in the formation and development of the traditional Cossack way of life in our region.
“I want our movement not only to grow quantitatively but also to improve qualitatively - to develop and hold lots of activities interesting for young people. “Through the Cossack youth movement, we bring up our future generation, which is necessary for the Cossack thread not to be broken off in the Kuban land.”
