Krasnodar, 17 July – Yug Times. Some Krasnodar inhabitants have reportedly got a chance to pay less in the public transport in the upcoming two months.

Since April 20, a tram, trolleybus or bus ticket in Krasnodar costs 26 roubles. But for the holders of Mir bankcards, a better tariff will be valid until September 10. It was not a mere chance that the Mir chose Krasnodar for the experiment: the Krasnodar region ranks high in the list of the top ten Russian regions with the highest activity of the Mir bankcard holders. For instance, from July 1, 2017 until July 1, 2018 Kuban occupied the seventh position in the list, with more than 23 million interbank transactions performed with the help of Mir bankcards.

According to Sergei Romanov, deputy director of Mir’s Department for Nonfinancial Services Development, was quoted as saying that introduction of the contactless payment system in public transport is an important step towards the establishment of the infrastructure of cashless payments that will ultimately unify the national system of public transport. Currently, the possibility to pay with bankcards is available for inhabitants of several cities of Russia only, mainly the megalopolises.
