Krasnodar, 20 June – Yug Times. Since June 14, Russia has been hosting the 2018 World Cup.
The opening ceremony and the first match were held in Moscow, at the Luzhniki Stadium. The right to play the first match was granted to the hosting team: Russia played with Saudi Arabia. The Krasnodar region is hosting the Mundial. The Fisht Stadium in Sochi was the venue of the match between the Spanish and Portuguese national teams. The fight of the world’s two leading football teams ended with a 3:3 draw.
“I may confidently state that the Krasnodar region has successfully passed the durability test,” said Governor Veniamin Kondratiev.
The result of the efficient work of all services and agencies was obvious: during the match no public order offences were registered. According to Mr. Kondratiev, Sochi had managed to cope with the inflow of football fans, whose total number (those that come to the stadium and those watching the match in the fanzone) equaled to 65,000.
