Krasnodar, 15 June – Yug Times. The Yug Times weekly announces the beginning of our annual contest Triumph. Today we are publishing the first story about our contenders.
Natalia Natan, an artist from Krasnodar, has participated in hundreds of exhibitions in Russia and beyond. Her canvases are kept in museums and private collections throughout the world. Her success is generally recognized and self-evident. But some five years ago, there was hardly anybody who knew about this painter…
Natalia Natan confesses that she began to paint “from the cradle.”
But despite the fact that she drew nicely from childhood, her parents decided not to send her to art school. “If she likes it, let her draw, but she will need a more serious profession to live by,” they thought. That was why Natalia entered a medical school, and then a faculty of psychology.
She liked her work - but art continued to occupy a special place in her life.
“My pictures were my relaxation; I could not help painting,” says she.
One day, Natalia decided to hang her canvases in a classroom where various specialists were taking their extension courses before the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi. One of the students, who was an executive of an elite hotel, liked Natalia’s works so much that she proposed her to place them in their lobby for the time of the Games.
When packing her canvases from the Russian Ballet collection, Natalia Natan could not even imagine what could happen in Sochi. And what did was that the delegation of Kazakhstan noticed her works and offered her an exhibition in their country. When she returned from her first international exhibition where her canvases had been highly appreciated, there was no end of proposals on cooperation.
