Krasnodar, 14 June – Yug Times. The official welcoming ceremony of the Spanish national football team, one of the main favourites of the upcoming World Cup, was held at the Academy of FC Krasnodar on June 7. The official procedure lasted about five minutes. At first, artists of the Cossack song group “Slavitsa” from the House of Culture and Sports of the Cossack village of Yelizavetinskaya hailed the athletes with a song about the Kuban region and the traditional Russian bread-and-salt welcome. Then Krasnodar City Mayour Yevgeni Pervyshov gave a welcoming speech on behalf of all city-dwellers.
“We are proud that a legendary national team has chosen Krasnodar,” he said. “You have chosen a splendid sport base and one of the best stadiums in Europe, erected by Sergei Galitsky. I am confident that you will not regret it. I wish you lots of brilliant goals, beautiful victories, and of course only good impressions. Welcome to Krasnodar!”
On Friday, the Spanish team held an open practice at FC Krasnodar’s training site. Many local football fans came to see the glorious team.
