Krasnodar, 24 April – Yug Times. Last week, the regional law enforcement agencies carried out a joint operation against the violators of residential construction law. In its framework, they detained the governmental officials and entrepreneurs accused of fraudulence in the construction sphere and instituted a number of criminal proceedings. The searches were carried out in Krasnodar and Sochi. As a result, Sochi Vice Mayor Mugdin Chermit and Krasnodar Chief Architect were detained Wednesday.
On the same day, Deputy Prosecutor General Andrei Kikot together with Kuban Governor Veniamin Kondratiev held a conference on the protection of rights of the co-owners of apartment houses who had invested money in the construction of the blocks. In this respect, Mr. Kondratiev was quoted as saying that he lays the responsibility for the unauthorized construction on the local authorities “that must ensure comfortable habitation in normal and lawfully built houses. Unauthorized constructions disfigure our cities and towns making them look ugly, but what is more important they may disfigure the lives of the people.”
