Krasnodar, 24 April – Yug Times. This year, CLAAS Krasnodar will be celebrating three jubilees: the 15th anniversary of the factory, the 60th birthday of its Director General Ralf Bendisch, and 20 years of Mr. Bendisch’s work with CLAAS. On the eve of these significant dates, we asked Mr. Bendisch to recount about his life and career. “I was born in the German Democratic Republic. From my childhood, I always liked to study. I was among the best students at school, and finished it with honours. “By assignment, I went to study to the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, Faculty of Machine Building Technologies. On graduating from the Institute, I started my PhD studies - so in total, I lived for nine years in the USSR.” Q.: How did you get to CLAAS and eventually come to Russia? A.: I defended my PhD dissertation and went back to Germany, where I worked for a company that produced agricultural machines. For seven years, I headed that company, but I was feeling bored working there, because the production processes were perfectly tuned up, so that management turned into a plain routine.
This is why immediately after the unification of Germany I moved to its Western part, and came to CLAAS in 1998, where at once I got what I had wanted and had for a long time been dreaming of. My task was to organize production facilities in East Europe and ex USSR countries, and I got valuable experience of managing projects in Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. I have been working in Russia since 2003, when the construction of our factory in Krasnodar began from a scratch. Since then, I have lived in two countries: in the town of Herford in North Rhine-Westphalia, and here in Krasnodar. Q.: This year, you are celebrating three good round figures at once. So you plan to expand? A.: Of course we do. We bought this site when it was a green field. Now we have 48 hectares, which is much more than we initially planned to have. But we are not going to stop halfway - according to a special investment contract, our Company will additionally invest 6.6 million euros in the construction of two new sectors in the Metal-Working Shop of our factory in Krasnodar.
