Krasnodar, 18 April – Yug Times. Millions of roubles will reportedly be spent this year to introduce Russian unarmed combat art to secondary school curricula in Krasnodar region, announced Governor Veniamin Kondratiev at a meeting with regional Minister of Physical Culture and Sports Ludmila Chernova and acting Minister of Education, Science and Youth Policy Konstantin Fedorchenko. The other invitees of the meeting were coaches of the regional Centre for Martial Arts. Kondratiev noted that development of children’s sports and sports ‘within walking distance’ is a priority task for the region. For that purpose, sports infrastructure is built, additional lessons of physical training and sports groups appear. Such sports and Russian unarmed combat art and judo are reportedly becoming more popular among students. This is why unarmed combat art will be introduced from the next school year as the third lesson of physical training at Kuban schools.

“Experimentally, these lessons will appear at 150 schools,” reminded Mr. Kondratiev. “I am confident that the trial will go well, and we will spread it to all schools in the region.”

Mr. Fedorenko made it clear that following Governor’s instructions, the schools were chosen to start the experiment. Over 20 million roubles will be spent this year to accomplish the program.
