Krasnodar, 6 February – Yug Times. The Common Assembly of the Russian Cossacks has been appointed for February 15.

The big event will be backed by the Presidential Council on Cossack Affairs, the Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs and the Russian Orthodox Church.

Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia gave his blessing to hold the assembly in Moscow’s Cathedral of Christ the Saviour.

The event will summon about 1,500 delegates from more than 70 Russian regions – representatives of all registered Cossack Hosts, Cossack public and youth associations, and priests that give guidance to local Cossack communities.

The agenda of the Common Assembly includes discussions of the fulfilment of the Development Strategy for the State Policy on Russian Cossacks until 2020, interactions between the Cossacks and the Russian Orthodox Church, and the concept of the All-Russia Cossack Community and proposals on it.
