Krasnodar, 12 January – Yug Times. During the New Year holidays, Krasnaya Poliana set a record — every day, up to 16,000 people made use of its cableways.
On New Year, the resorts were practically full up. Because of a great number of holidaymakers, a special coordination taskforce was established to control the work of the alpine skiing spots. The specialists stated that no serious incidents had been registered in Sochi over the period of the holidays.
“It was well-coordinated work of all departments and services that helped provide for a high level of recreation of the holidaymakers,” noted Vice Governor Vasili Shvets. “But it would be too early to chill out — the tourists continue to arrive, which means that we have to proceed with the fulfillment of our duties.”
The coordination taskforce of the regional administration controls the organizations responsible for the safety and comfort of the holidaymakers, monitors the sanitary state of Krasnaya Poliana, and helps redistribute the traffic to lessen the jams along the region’s major roads.
