Krasnodar, 19 September – Yug Times. On September 13, the Krasnodar region celebrated its 80th anniversary.
All cities and towns of the region played host to numerous festive activities dedicated to the jubilee. The heart of the celebration that hosted its official part was the sports complex Basket Hall in Krasnodar.
In his welcoming speech, Governor Veniamin Kondratiev called Kuban residents the main asset of the region. “Like people, like Kuban,” said he. “I am thankful to all of you who have built our region by their labour and done their share in the development of the Krasnodar region. Presently we may rightfully be proud of our cities and stanitsas.”
The celebrations in the Basket Hall included a diverse cultural program. Amateur and professional performers — altogether about 4,000 artists, including such stars as Oleg Gazmanov and Turetsky’s Choir — played in public until late night.
