Krasnodar, August 30 – Yug Times. At an annual school teaching staff meeting held last week in Krasnodar, launch of a new support program for the young teachers was announced for 2018. The program developed by the regional Ministry of Education provides for payment of monthly grants of 2,000 rubles and lump-sum payments of 10,000 to 50,000 rubles (depending on the service record) meant to stimulated the teachers’ work.
Besides, it was announced that by the end of this year eight new schools will be built in the region, and 14 more in 2018, which will have a favourable effect on the teachers’ desire to work in schools. So far, about 20% of the teaching staff have reached pensionable age, and only 24% are younger than 35.
“It is an integrated problem which has to be resolved in an integrated way,” stated Governor Veniamin Kondratiev. “Of course, experience is a valuable thing, but there will be no movement forward without young professionals who will carry on the work.”
To stimulate the graduates to work at schools, they should be provided with comfortable work conditions, financial backup and decent accommodation.
It is not easy to resolve this problem at the federal level — Ministry of Finance refuses to support the initiative to give additional allowances to school teachers.
Another important item of the agenda discussed was extortion at schools. Mr. Kondratiev stressed that all money may be collected exclusively on a voluntary basis.
