A traditional media forum organized by the All Russia Popular Front for regional journalists was run in St Petersburg for the fourth time.
Unlike previous years, only internal issues were discussed on different forum platforms: ecology, state of the roads, the system of state-guaranteed orders, education of schoolchildren. A Yug Times representative was also among the forum participants.
One of the most interesting projects of the first day was the interactive “map of broken roads”. Each Internet user can mark the problem road, describe it and attach photographs. illustrating the problem
The main speaker of that day was Sergey Ivanov, the Presidential Representative on environmental safety, ecology and transportation. Discussion was focused on industrial hard waste system reform which was planned to be completed by 2017. However, there were no waste disposal designated areas ready and licensed in most regions of the country including the Krasnodar region. As a result most of them became unauthorized waste deposits.
“In essence, it is now a big garbage dump, and the only way out is to equip all the dustbin lorries with the GLONASS system and track the waste being disposed of”, - the official says.
The traditional meeting with the RF President took place during the Forum. He mentioned the Krasnodar region in one of his answers and asssured local agrarians that support would be provided, with the focus on small agricultural businesses: “I know there are many problems, including problems with land, and I keep a close eye on what is going on in the Krasnodar region. I instructed the Prosecutor’s Office to handle the issue many times. Necessary support has to be provided to farms and small enterprises” – V.Putin said.
