Last year, the Krasnodar region joined the federal program of resettlement of compatriots to Russia. Now it has turned out that Kuban attracts our former compatriots living in Germany, not only citizens of ex-Soviet republics.

According to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers, 3,000 persons may resettle to the Krasnodar region during the years of the program (2016 to 2021).

The advantage will reportedly be given to the compatriots who will agree to resettle to small villages and stanitsas and get employed by local public health and educational institutions.

According to official statistics, 140 resettlement applications had been submitted by the beginning of 2017 – mainly from ex-USSR republics (62 from Kazakhstan, 59 from Ukraine, 4 from Armenia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan each, 2 from Germany, 1 from Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Lithuania and Latvia), however 103 applications were rejected – mainly because the applicants had no degrees in teaching or medicine, and because most of them had wished to relocate to big cities rather than rural localities.

As on now, only 37 applications have been approved, but not all of them by all interested parties – the regional Ministry of Labour, Migration Control Agency and municipalities. As a result, only 18 specialists have been qualified so far – 11 from Ukraine, 6 from Kazakhstan, and 1 from Uzbekistan.
